You will often hear that September and March are the “best” months because of the equinoxes. There is a scientific basis for paying attention to the weeks around the March and September equinoxes: seasonal geometry can favor geomagnetic activity. A quiet solar wind can produce a quiet sky in March, while a strong solar event can create an excellent display in January. Treat equinox season as a possible advantage, not a booking promise.
